Iran FM says Tehran meeting seeks to oppose unilateralism

Amirabdollahian made the remarks in reference to an ongoing “meeting of national coordinators of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations” which kicked off in the Iranian capital earlier today.

In a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, which took place on the sidelines of the Tehran meeting, the Iranian foreign minister said that Western countries led by the United States are after domination in the world and oppose independent countries.

Amirabdollahian expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral relations between Tehran and Moscow and a successful holding of a recent joint commission meeting.

The Russian foreign minister, for his part, said that Iran and Russia share views in many regional and international issues.

Western sanctions are in line with their efforts to dominate the world, Vershinin said, adding that the media war of the US and the NATO aims to affect the young generation of independent countries.
