Iranian FM: US should be realistic/ Iran ready for normal ties with Saudi Arabia

Speaking on the sideline of the third Tehran Dialogue Forum, Amir-Abdollahian said, “Discussions with Saudi Arabia is continuing within its own path. Also, based on the diplomacy, we are ready to reopen the embassies of both countries and return the ties of the countries to the normal mode”.  

“This is Saudi Arabia which should make a decision how to follow a constructive approach towards Iran,” he noted.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian with referring to the second round of the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, which is scheduled to be held in Amman, Jordan on Tuesday, declared, “The Conference can be a moving-forward step to wipe out existing challenges and the important message of the conference should be the focus on regional cooperation without foreigners’ interference”.

“We have constantly welcomed the cooperation and interactions with regional and Persian Gulf countries,” he noted.

When asked a question whether he would hold a meeting with the EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell, attending the Forum in Amman, Amir-Abdollahian said, “Mr. Borrell and the EU coordinator Enrique Mora are expected to attend the Forum. As I have stated before, the discussions between top negotiator Ali Bagheri and Mr. Mora are continuing, and I seriously keep in touch with Mr. Borrell. Therefore, this is a proper opportunity to finish the talks”.

Iranian Foreign Minister, criticizing the US for its approach towards Iran’s domestic development, went on to say, “Americans should choose either hypocrisy or demand to reach the agreement. We hope to witness a realistic approach from them”.
