Iran’s “World War III” to be screened at Hainan Int’l Film Festival

The fourth edition of the festival, held in the city of Sanya, was set to run from December 3-10 but was abruptly put on hold following a rise in Covid cases. Now, following the relaxation of pandemic measure in China over the past week, the festival is back on and it is to take place from December 18-25.

The HIIFF Competition includes 11 titles in the feature competition; eight in the documentary competition; and 10 shorts. They will compete for the Golden Coconut Awards.

This film follows an ordinary labourer — played by Mohsen Tanabandeh (A Hero) — who finds himself working on the set of a film that purports to be a condemnation of dictatorships, but the filmmakers themselves turn into tyrants.

Mohsen Tanabandeh, Neda Jebraeili, Mahsa Hejazi, Navid Nosrati, Lotfollah Seyfi and Hatam Mashmooli are among the cast members of the film.
